Inspiring worm

Ok, this is weird but stick with me.

As the sun rose over the hillside to the east of Crescent Bay, my dog and I were finishing a walk when a glint on the dirt road caught my eye.
The curve of gravel here us an earthworm. It was a good 4 or 5 feet from any soft ground from which it could have crawled on this cold October morning.
Covered in gravel stuck to it’s tender skin, it’s doing whatever it’s job is right now, and that can’t be fun.
So get to work. It’s the way of the universe.
