The Sound of Power

Hear the hissing in the background? That’s the sound of electricity throbbing through huge powerlines after being produced at Grand Coulee Dam.On a cold day in the coulee, this power is directly over my head in the big lines that span the coulee as they carry power from the big switchyard toward Spokane.

Looking northwest under a big tower, you can see the where the powerlines come down from the switchyard. My dog adds a scale perspective.

Looking to the southeast, you see the lines headed out toward Spokane over the fog encrusted coulee wall. Notice the car driving through the towers.
